A boy was injured in a drive-by shooting while lying in bed Wednesday night at a home in southeast Fort Worth, police said.

Officers were dispatched to a local hospital shortly after midnight Thursday regarding a shooting victim, officials said. The victim told police he was in bed when he heard gunfire outside the residence, which is located in the 2500 block of Malvern Trail. A bullet struck the victim in the left thigh, police said, and he was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

The suspect fled the scene after the shooting, according to police.

Police said the victim was a juvenile but did not release his age. His injury was not life-threatening, and the Gun Violence Unit will investigate the shooting.
