A man was shot in the hand during an apparent road rage incident along Interstate 35W on Tuesday morning, Fort Worth police said.

Officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of the I-35W service road around 5:20 a.m. regarding a shooting, officials said. The victim told police he was in a vehicle traveling north on I-35W when the driver of his vehicle got into an incident or exchange with the driver of the vehicle beside them.

As the vehicles approached Felix Street, the other driver took out a gun and fired. The bullet hit the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle and entered the passenger’s side. The victim was wounded in the left hand, according to police.

The suspect fled the scene, and the Gun Violence Unit will investigate the shooting, police said. The victim was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
