Arlington police say a man shot and killed his sister’s boyfriend after the couple had an altercation at an apartment pool that left his sister with a bloody lip.

The brother, Catderian Strong, opened fire with a rifle at the door of an apartment after he had a parking lot fistfight with his sister’s boyfriend, a homicide detective suggested in an affidavit supporting an arrest warrant.

Authorities on Sunday in Fort Worth arrested Strong, 26, on suspicion of murder. He had left the north Arlington scene after the shooting, police said.

The 33-year-old man who was killed has not been publicly identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was shot about 11:45 p.m. at the apartment in the 2800 block of Forest Hollow Lane, police said.

Multiple people had been invited there to swim. While at the pool, the couple got into an altercation, according to a witness account described in the affidavit.

The boyfriend was in the door threshold when Strong began shooting, police said.
