Dallas homicide detectives are investigating the killing of a 62-year-old man who died from injuries on May 21.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Cleardale Drive, in the Red Bird area, around 2:45 p.m., Dallas police said. They found the victim, Robert Dunmeyer, lying on the ground.

Police didn’t specify how Dunmeyer was killed, but the medical examiner ruled his death a homicide.

No arrests have been announced. Police are investigating what led to the man’s death and the motive.

Darcy Ollie told KDFW-TV that Dunmeyer, who was her uncle, “was fun-loving. He liked to joke a lot.”

A neighbor told the FOX station that it appeared Dunmeyer was hit on the head with something, but police have not confirmed that.

“We’re depending on the detectives to give us the right answers and find that killer,” Ollie said. She told KDFW that Dunmeyer was originally from South Carolina and moved to Dallas in 2016. He leaves behind family including two sons.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jacob White at (214) 671-3690 or jacob.white@dallaspolice.gov. Tips can also be called in to Crime Stoppers at 214-373-8477.
