Arlington man accused of raping Parker County teenager
A 24-year-old Arlington man was in the Parker County Jail Wednesday night accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl he met on an online dating site.
The girl reportedly ran screaming from Wayne Dell Wright’s vehicle on July 2 to a nearby residence where she reported the sexual assault, said Deputy Danie Huffman, a spokeswoman for the Parker County sheriff’s department.
The teenager told authorities that she and Wright met on a dating site and he picked her up at her home within 24 hours of their first chatting online, Huffman said.
“He drove to Parker County to pick her up, gave her a fruity type of drink, and then drove her to a remote location where she reported he sexually assaulted her,” Huffman said.
The teen also said the man attempted to “strangle or choke” and “chase” her.
She broke free and ran to a house where the resident called 911 at 1:15 a.m., Huffman said. The teen was immediately transported to a Fort Worth hospital.
Officers assigned to the Parker County sheriff’s fugitive unit arrested Wright at his Arlington apartment complex on July 9, Huffman said.
He faces a charge of sexual assault of a child. Wright remained in Parker County Jail Wednesday night with bail on that charge set at $50,000.
But he also is being held on a parole violation, Huffman said.
Public records show Wright was sentenced to six months in jail in 2013 on a criminal mischief charge.
