Two people killed in shooting in Denton, police say; no suspects in custody
Two people were killed in a shooting Thursday night at an apartment complex in Denton, according to the police department.
The shooting was reported in the parking lot at the Ridgecrest Apartment Complex, in the 1300 block of Dallas Drive, about 10 p.m., Denton police said.
The victims, a man and a woman, were found dead in a vehicle parked at an apartment complex. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified them as Ronald Lee Calvert Jr., 43, and Breanna Christine Dunn, 29. Both died of gunshot wounds to the head.
No arrests have been announced in the homicides. Police said the shooter or shooters left the area.
“After speaking to witnesses, it was quickly determined that the suspects believed to be involved in this shooting had fled from the scene prior to police arrival,” police said in a news release. “While this investigation is still in its very preliminary stages, there are factors present that strongly indicate this was not a random act of violence.”
Police asked that anyone with information call Detective Bearden at (940) 349-7986. The public can also call Denton County Crime Stoppers to anonymously report a tip: 1-800-388-TIPS (8477).
