Armed suspect shot, killed by North Texas sheriff’s deputy, officials say

An armed suspect was shot dead by a Denton County Sheriff’s Office deputy in Sanger on Monday, officials said.

According to a Denton County Sheriff’s Office press release, the Sanger Police Department received a call about a possible domestic disturbance involving a man with a weapon. Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Lake Ridge Drive around 11:15 a.m.

Sanger police requested help from the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, the Krum Police Department and the Pilot Point Police Department, the release said.

A Sanger police officer contacted the armed suspect, and “a struggle ensued,” according to the release. The suspect was shot by a Denton County deputy and was later pronounced dead.

The man’s name has not been released.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the case, officials said.
