Father to face capital murder charges in death of McKinney 9-year-old boy
A man in McKinney is facing pending capital murder charges after authorities said he killed his 9-year-old son on Friday.
McKinney police said in a video posted to Twitter that officers arrived in the 700 block of Anson Court around 4 p.m. Friday responding to a call about a boy who was bleeding and unconscious. When they arrived, the officers found the boy’s father “in the act of inflicting self harm with a knife,” police said in the video.
The boy was found in the garage with multiple stab wounds, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The father was the only other person found at the home, according to police. He was taken to the hospital and was undergoing treatment for his injuries.
Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public since the boy’s killing appears to be domestic in nature. Police are still investigating, but said on Twitter that the capital murder charges are pending.
Police did not release the name of the man accused or any other details. A police spokesperson did not immediately reply to a Star-Telegram request for more information.
