Friday morning shooting in Fort Worth injures one, officials say
A 24-year-old man is in serious condition after being shot during a robbery in the parking lot of a Fort Worth apartment complex around 6:30 a.m. Friday, officials said.
A spokesperson for the Fort Worth Police Department said the victim was in the parking lot of the Magnolia at Village Creek Apartments in the 5200 block of Prairie Lookout Drive when a woman approached and asked for help with some car problems.
A man then approached with a gun and demanded money and other items from the victim. When the victim refused, the man shot him once in the stomach and once in the leg, police said. Both suspects fled the scene.
A spokesperson for MedStar confirmed the victim was transported to a local trauma center in serious but not life-threatening condition.
Police said Robbery Unit will handle the investigation.
