A man was injured Friday night in a possible drive-by shooting in the Hillside Morningside neighborhood, Fort Worth police said.

Officer Tracy Carter, spokesperson for the Fort Worth Police Department, said that shortly after 10:40 p.m. officers simultaneously responded to a shooting victim who had been taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in a private vehicle and reports of shots fired near the 900 block of East Richmond Avenue.

Carter said the incident seems to be a drive-by shooting. It appears the victim was shot multiple times while in his vehicle on the street, and some houses in the neighborhood may have been struck by gunfire as well.

The victim had to undergo surgery for his injuries, Carter said, and police are still looking for suspects. The gun violence unit will continue the investigation.
