Two people killed in collision after shots, vehicle chase, Fort Worth authorities say

Two people in a vehicle fleeing police died on Monday when it struck another vehicle in a Kennedale intersection, Fort Worth authorities said.

An off-duty Fort Worth police sergeant was driving east on Interstate 20 when about 2:30 p.m. he saw someone in a vehicle fire a gun at another vehicle, according to a Fort Worth police account.

Police found the shooter’s vehicle and tried to pull it over at I-20 and Mansfield Highway. It did not stop, according to the account.

As officers tried to catch up to it, the vehicle’s driver headed south before striking the other vehicle at West Kennedale Parkway and North Dick Price Road. The collision caused the suspect vehicle to roll over, police said.

Jaquan Cason, 17, and Gabrielle Ramirez, 19, died of blunt force injuries, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A third person in the shooter’s vehicle was taken to a hospital, police said. That person’s condition was not included in the account.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital, police said.

One officer responding to the initial pursuit was involved in a minor accident and was taken to a hospital for precautionary measures, police said.

Police found two firearms that left the vehicle during the rollover, according to the account. The vehicle was reported stolen in Grand Prairie.

No shooting victims have been reported.
