Woman slain in Fort Worth not planned target, was with person suspect tried to shoot

A woman who was shot to death on Saturday in east Fort Worth was with a person whom the suspect was trying to fire upon and was likely not the intended target, police said.

The suspect shot the victim about 1:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Paradise Hills Drive, said Officer Buddy Calzada, a Fort Worth police spokesperson. Police did not say whether the woman was inside a residence, a vehicle, a business or outdoors when she was shot.

The suspect left the scene after the shooting, and police did not announce an arrest.

The victim, whose name and age the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office had not released, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
