Gunfire hits homes in Fort Worth shootings, sends 1 to hospital, injures 2 more: police
Two unrelated shootings in residential areas injured three people and damaged property in Fort Worth late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, police said.
Police spokesperson Shawn Stone said officers responded to a call Tuesday around 10:40 p.m. in the 2800 block of Avenue K, in east Fort Worth, and found that a home and several vehicles in that block had been hit by gunfire.
A man was shot in the head and taken to a hospital in a private vehicle before police arrived. Another victim was treated and released at the scene, Stone said.
Police are still investigating, and Stone said the Gang Unit was notified and asked to respond to the scene. There were no suspects in custody as of Tuesday morning.
Wednesday morning around 3:15 police responded to a call from a home in the 8100 block of Dripping Springs Drive, in south Fort Worth. A man had been hit in the chest by debris from the ricochet of a bullet. Stone said medical personnel examined and released the man on the scene and no one else was injured.
Stone said the victim indicated to police that he and other family members were inside the house when they heard gunfire and bullets hitting the interior of the house.
There were no suspects in custody, but Stone said a dark-colored sedan was reported fleeing the scene after the gunshots.
