Carrollton police confirmed Sunday that three bodies found at the site of a house fire Saturday are part of a double murder-suicide.

The bodies were discovered shortly after fire crews responded to a report of smoke at 3915 Alto Ave. around 4 p.m., according to information emailed by a department spokesperson.

The spokesperson added they are waiting on a medical examiner’s report to officially confirm identities and causes of death.

The deceased were a 51-year-old woman and two men ages 53 and 77, all members of the same family, according to a Saturday press release.

Their exact causes of death are not yet known, although the 53-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head, and the two other people had “obvious signs of trauma,” according to the release.

The three are believed to have died before the fire spread, authorities said. Initial evidence in the investigation “indicates this was an isolated family incident and that there is no related threat to the area,” the release said.
