4-year-old student found with THC vape at Weatherford school; 24-year-old mother arrested
A 4-year-old Parker County child at an elementary school gave a teacher a THC vape that he said his mother had left there, Weatherford police said Thursday.
The child’s 24-year-old mother was arrested after she was called to the Weatheford elementary school.
Weatherford police identified the mother as Victoria Randall, who has posted $33,000 bond and been released from jail.
Randall faces charges of abandoning/endangering a child with intent to return, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest, search, or transport. On the resisting arrest charge, Randall is accused of fighting with officers while being take into custody outside of the school.
Weatherford police were called just before 10:30 a.m. Monday to Bose Ikard Elementary, 100 Ikard Lane, about drugs being found on a 4-year-old student.
When officers arrived they spoke with school administrators. The child’s parent was called to the scene.
The child had presented a THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) vape to one of the teachers at school and told them his mother left it there, Weatherford police said.
After an initial investigation, the school resource officer made the decision to arrest Randall because of the number of children in the class who could have easily accessed the device, police said.
Randall was booked into jail on Monday and posted bond on Tuesday.
