The Parker County 12-year-old girl who shot her father and then herself in what authorities described as a conspiracy to kill her family and run away with another juvenile has died, according to a news release from the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office on Sept. 20 said the girl shot her father in the abdomen then fled the scene before shooting herself in the head.

The father was released from the hospital and is expected to recover, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.

Another 12-year-old girl from Lufkin is suspected of conspiring with the first girl, plotting to kill her own parents as well before the two would run away together to Georgia, authorities said.

The Parker County girl died in hospice care Sept. 22, according to the sheriff’s office.

The second girl, who did not go through with the murder plan, was arrested Sept. 20 and is charged with conspiracy to to commit murder.
