3 women shot at Dallas hair salon in predominantly Asian community; police look for suspect
Three women were shot at a hair salon in a predominantly Asian community in northwest Dallas on Wednesday afternoon, sending them to the hospital with non-fatal injuries, according to police.
Police responded to the shooting in the 2200 block of Royal Lane around 2 p.m. Police said that a suspect, described as a Black man standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build, curly medium-length hair and a connecting beard, fled the scene in a maroon van.
Anybody with information on the man, the van or any other details on the shooting are asked to contact Detective Timothy Johnson at 214-671-3523.
The three victims were identified by Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV as the owner, an employee and a customer of the salon. All three are Korean women, according to WFAA.
Police said there was no indication that the shooting was a hate crime, but Tiffany Liou, a reporter with WFAA, said on Twitter Wednesday there was “an increased fear in the Asian community here.”
Dallas police said the investigation is ongoing.
The area around the hair salon is historically Asian and predominantly Korean, with restaurants, hair salons, stores, bakeries and karaoke bars in the area often Korean owned and operated.
