The shooting, reported around 6:50 p.m., happened in the 1400 block of the South Freeway service road along northbound Interstate 35W, police said. Officers were dispatched to the scene on a report of shots fired.

MedStar said the man was in critical condition when paramedics arrived. He was taken to a hospital before he died. His name has not been released.

A male suspect remained at the scene of the shooting, police said.

“Detectives have determined that there was a road rage incident between the victim and suspect just prior to the shooting on Interstate 35 traveling northbound,” police spokesman Officer Daniel Segura said in an email. “Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation and no arrest has been made at this time.”
