Man dies at hospital after shooting at Euless apartment complex; suspect arrested
A 19-year-old man died at a hospital early Friday morning after he was shot Thursday evening at a Euless apartment complex.
The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect in the homicide based on leads developed by Euless detectives during their investigation, Euless police said in a news release.
Police identified the suspect as Elijah Royal, 22.
The victim, Lamonte Robert Watkins, 19, died at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine about 1:45 a.m. Friday, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy is pending.
Watkins lived at the apartment complex where he was shot, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 600 block of East Ash Lane, Euless police said.
Watkins was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Thursday night before he died, police said.
