Two people dead after shooting in northwest Fort Worth on Wednesday morning, police say

Two people died after a shooting Wednesday morning in a residential neighborhood in northwest Fort Worth, police said.

The shooting was reported around 7 a.m. in the 1900 block of Lawther Drive. Police believe the shooting was connected to a drug-related robbery.

“Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound,” Jimmy Pollozani, a police spokesperson, said. “Officers also found an additional shooting victim who was transported to an area hospital with apparent gunshot wounds, but he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.”

One of the victims was identified as 18-year-old Christian Armijo of Sansom Park by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. The medical examiner’s office has not yet ruled on his cause or manner of death.

The medical examiner, and police, have not released the identity of the second individual killed. The police department also has not announced any arrests.

According to a police call log, a 911 caller reported a male had been shot in front of a school bus. Police later said that a bus driver in the area “saw the aftermath” but did not witness the shooting and that no children were injured.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Nicholas Garcia, who’s lived in the area for three years, heard the gunshots. He and his mother first thought someone was knocking on their front door, but when they saw no one was outside, they left their house to see what was happening.

Just up the street, a few houses away, the pair saw two bodies.

“Nothing like this never happened around here,” Garcia said. “It’s usually real quiet. You can hear gunshots around here but it’s only because of the North Side over there, but nothing like this ever happened in this neighborhood.”
