GoFundMe started for victims in Carrollton crash that killed one, injured two
Friends of 29-year-old Carrollton resident Rohit Khanna, who died in a car crash Monday evening, have started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with funeral expenses.
Swastik Jindal, who organized the GoFundMe page Tuesday, said in the description that he and Khanna’s friends are raising money to send his body to India for a funeral with his family.
On Monday, Khanna and two friends, Harsh Vardhan Pande and Akash Agrawal, were hit by a Dallas man who ran a red light after police say he stole a Lexus. Khanna was pronounced dead at the scene while Pande and Agrawal were taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano for serious injuries.
The crash happened in Carrollton within 30 minutes of the vehicle being stolen from a convenience store in Love Field near Dallas, police said.
Carrollton police have charged 29-year-old Joseph Demarcus Warren with murder in the crash.
As of Thursday evening, over $92,000 had been raised out of the original goal of $100,000. The fundraiser can be found on gofundme.com with the title “Help Rohit’s funeral, Harsh & Akash’s care expense.”
Donations will also go toward surgery and future medical expenses for Pande and Agrawal, Jindal said.
