Woman found shot to death in Ryan Place neighborhood, Fort Worth police say
A woman was found shot to death Monday morning in her home in the Ryan Place neighborhood of Fort Worth, police said.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Yesenia Abigail Corpus Garcia, 19. Fort Worth police did not release any details on a motive for the shooting or a suspect.
Fort Worth patrol officers responded to a shooting call shortly before 8:30 a.m. in the 2800 block of South Adams Street. A caller reported hearing a gunshot and believed it came from her neighbor’s house.
When they arrived, police found the victim, who was dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.
On Monday afternoon, Fort Worth police were still at the house, which was roped off with crime-scene tape. Neighbors said a young woman lived in the home with a dog.
Samuel Saucedo said he’s lived on the block for 40 years, and it has always been quiet. He saw police cars on the street when he looked outside about 8 a.m. He said he had never talked to the woman personally.
Steve Elder described the woman who lived in the home as “young and pretty,” but he had not spoken to her before. On Sunday night, he saw her outside with a man that he assumed was her boyfriend.
“I was blown away when I heard what happened,” he said. “I felt really bad. Maybe if I had said something to them, everything would be different.”
Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting.
