Arlington man arrested after crashing car into house, injuring homeowner, police say

An Arlington homeowner was injured late Monday night after a car crashed into the resident’s house, police said.

Officers responded to the incident at 11:33 p.m in the 2300 block of Skylark Drive, Arlington police spokesperson Jesse Minton said.

Minton said the driver, 18-year-old Gerson Castellanos of Arlington, was intoxicated and lost control of his car before driving through the home.

The homeowner, who police said was in bed at the time of the accident, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Castellanos tried to flee on foot but was eventually arrested, police said. He is being held in the Arlington Police Department Jail without bond and is charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle and a crash involving injury - failure to stop and render aid.

Arlington police said they want to warn the public of the dangers that drinking and driving cause and that under any circumstance it isn’t the right thing to do.
