Man fatally shot in Everman; police and Texas Rangers investigating

A man was fatally shot in Everman on Monday evening, and police had detained three people for questioning, according to Everman police.

The man was shot in the 1700 block of Everman Parkway at the Everman Market.

Police were the first to arrive at the scene after they got a shooting call at 5:53 p.m., Everman Police Chief C.W. Spencer said. Officers found a young man in the parking lot of the convenience store with a gunshot wound and tried to treat him. They started to do CPR, and the fire department took him to John Peter Smith Hospital when they arrived.

Shortly after, the emergency room staff declared him dead.

None of the three people questioned were facing charges Monday night, Spencer said.

Everman police said they were not identifying the victim until they are able to contact his family, and were not releasing the names of anyone yet as of 9:30 p.m. Monday.
