Fort Worth man becomes second suspect facing murder charge in shooting at a home

A second man accused in a May homicide in Fort Worth was in custody Wednesday, according to jail records.

Anthony Marquise Paige, 26, of Fort Worth, was in the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday, facing a charge of murder in the May 19 shooting death of Korey Ervin at his Fort Worth home.

Paige was booked into jail on Monday just days after Walter Freeman, 29, of Forest Hill, was arrested and also accused in the homicide.

Ervin, 28, was shot in his chest on May 19 at his residence in the 4700 block of Willow Springs Road, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Ervin was shot about 6:45 p.m. and was pronounced dead about an hour later at John Peter Smith Hospital. He died from that gunshot wound and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Ervin was involved in an argument and then a physical altercation with a man before he was shot, Fort Worth police said. The victim’s wife called authorities and reported the shooting.

That man fled the scene.

Fort Worth police have not released any information on what the two men had been arguing about.

Police also have not commented on how Freeman and Paige are involved in the shooting.

Freeman was arrested on June 1 and later released on $75,000 bond. He was charged with murder on June 3, according to Tarrant County criminal court records.

Paige was in the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday in lieu of $250,000 bond.
