Suspected drunken driver strikes, kills pedestrian on I-35W in Burleson, police say

A suspected drunken driver struck a pedestrian on I-35W in Burleson a little after midnight Saturday, killing the woman, police said.

Diane Jean, 66, of Alvarado, was identified as the victim.

Michael Sidner, the 41-year-old driver of the vehicle, was charged with intoxication manslaughter, a Burleson Police Department spokesperson said in an email on Saturday. He was transported to Johnson County Jail.

Sidner crashed into Jean around 12:05 a.m. Saturday in the 3300 block of I-35W northbound lanes, police said. He called 9-1-1 and stayed on the scene.

After responding officers conducted a field sobriety test on Sidner, they determined he was intoxicated and placed him under arrest, police said.

No bond had been set for Sidner as of Saturday afternoon, according to online jail records.

The police spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a question on Saturday about where Jean was on I-35W or what she was doing when Sidner struck her.
