Haltom City man shot while trying to break into an apartment, police say
A man in his early thirties was shot while attempting to break into an apartment in Haltom City on Monday, Haltom City police said in a news release.
Officers arrived at The Grand on Beach apartment complex at 4100 Northern Cross Blvd. at about 2:45 p.m. in response to a shooting. The man had tried to force entry into the apartment and was shot in the abdomen with a single round from a handgun by a 19-year-old in the apartment, according to the release. The 19-year-old believed his life was in danger, the release said.
The suspect was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital. Because of his injuries and need for medical treatment, he was released with charges pending.
After interviewing witnesses and the 19-year-old victim, officers determined that the suspect and other people tried to force entry into the apartment.
“This appears to stem from a personal feud between residents of the victim’s apartment and the suspect,” the release stated.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
