Dallas-area man crashes car into pole, dies after fleeing traffic stop, police say

A 27-year-old Carrollton man died Thursday night in a single-car accident after crashing into a pole following a traffic stop, a Carrollton Police Department press release stated.

At 11:33 p.m. a Carrollton police officer pulled the man over for speeding, the press release states. The officer soon suspected the driver was intoxicated and told him to turn the vehicle off. Instead of complying, the driver sped away and crashed into the pole, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at the intersection of Marsh Lane and Keller Springs Road.

The name of the man is being withheld pending full notification of the family, police said.
