Man hit woman with car while trying to run over group of people, Fort Worth police say

A woman was hit by a car and seriously injured early Tuesday when a driver tried to run over a group of people near a bar in the Foch Street area, Fort Worth police said.

Several people managed to get out of the way of the car, but a 37-year-old woman was struck and suffered a broken jaw, authorities said.

Fort Worth police managed to stop the motorist near the scene of the assault.

Fort Worth police identified the suspect as Moises G. Salinas, 34, of Crowley.

Salinas faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one charge of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, according to Tarrant County Jail records.

Fort Worth police officers were patrolling the West 7th entertainment district near Foch Street shortly before 2:30 a.m. when they heard what they believed was a car crash.

The officers arrived at the 2900 block of Crockett Street, where people called to them and pointed to a silver Toyota Camry which was attempting to leave the scene. Police also saw a woman on the ground.

The driver, later identified as Moises Salinas, was stopped.

Witnesses told police that Salinas had attempted to fight with people in the area, got into his vehicle and then tried to run over them.

Many people got out of the way, but one woman was hit, police said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital. Her condition was not available on Tuesday.

Salinas was in the Tarrant County Jail on Tuesday and no bond had been set
