Texas attorneys accused of hiring hit man to kill fellow lawyer in his home
Two Waco attorneys remained in custody Tuesday after they were arrested over the weekend and accused of hiring a gunman to kill another Waco attorney.
The intended target was the ex-husband of one of the attorneys and he was accused in February of sexually touching a 10-year-old family member, according to news reports.
Seth Andrew Sutton, 45, was booked into the McLennan County Jail in Waco on Saturday, while Chelsea Tijerina, 33, was put in jail on Friday, according to jail records.
Jail records indicated Tijerina and Sutton both face charges of solicitation of capital murder and are accused of plotting to kill Tijerina’s ex-husband, attorney Marcus Beaudin of Waco.
Woodway police arrested Beaudin, 37, on a felony charge of indecency with a child in February, the Waco Tribune-Herald reported.
The Waco attorney was accused of sexually touching the girl in December, but his attorney, Josh Tetens, has said Beaudin denies the claims, according to KXTX-TV.
An arrest warrant issued by Judge Matt Johnson indicated that Sutton is accused of soliciting an undercover officer to kill Beaudin on May 14.
Sutton paid the undercover officer to purchase “a clean” gun to use in the shooting, according to the warrant. The officer accepted $300, and Sutton told the officer he would help him leave town after committing the homicide, the warrant says.
Sutton and Tijerina made the plans on how to carry out the hit, according to news reports.
Tijerina is accused of providing details on Beaudin’s whereabouts and how to carry out homicide.
The hit was to take place at Beaudin’s home, according to the warrant.
The Waco Tribune-Herald reported that “Chelsea Tijerina (Beaudin) and Sutton provided a timeline for the murder as well as establishing alibis” for themselves, according to the warrant..
Tijerina and Sutton were both in the McLennan County Jail on Tuesday in lieu of $1 million bond.
