Denton police arrest man in connection with his roommate’s fatal shooting

Denton police arrested a man on suspicion of manslaughter in his roommate’s fatal shooting on Saturday night.

At about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, Denton police received a call of an unconscious person in the 200 block of S. Bonnie Brae St.

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken with life-threatening injuries to a hospital, where he died.

Police arrested the man’s roommate, 20-year-old Kashanmustafa Ali, on suspicion of manslaughter Sunday, according to a Denton police press release.

The night of the man’s death, Ali was interviewed as a witness and gave police false information regarding a suspect. His account of the shooting did not match the physical evidence at the scene, police said.

The victim has not been publicly identified pending family notification.
