Woman shot dead in Arlington after boyfriend possibly mishandled gun, police say

A man who may have negligently handled a handgun shot his girlfriend to death Saturday in Arlington, police said.

The woman, who was in her 20s, was shot about 2 a.m. inside an apartment in the 2500 block of Forest Point Drive, an Arlington police spokesman said. The couple had been dating for several years.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office had not released the victim’s name on Saturday afternoon.

The woman was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead .

Police interviewed the victim’s boyfriend and released him. The case will be forwarded to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office and reviewed by a grand jury.
