4 suspects in 2006 double homicide at Terrell Pizza Hut arrested after new investigation
Four Terrell residents who were suspected of killing two Pizza Hut employees during a robbery more than 13 years ago but never convicted have been arrested following a new investigation into the case, police said.
The four people — Justin Prox, 32; Anthony Holliman, 32; Bianca Newman, 36, and Darius Hubbard, 33 — were charged with capital murder, police said in a news release. They were all current or former employees at the Pizza Hut when the double homicide occurred.
Patricia Oferoskey and Stephen Mitchelltree were found dead inside of a Pizza Hut around 12:20 a.m. on Sept. 3, 2006, police said.
Prox, Holliman, Newman and Hubbard were arrested at the time after investigators determined they had planned and carried out the robbery leading to the murders of the two employees. But the Kaufman County District Attorney released them, police said. The case has stayed open for almost 14 years.
A team made up of investigators from the Terrell Police Department, Texas Rangers and the Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office recently started looking into the case, police said. They brought a new perspective to the case, police said, and utilized technological advances.
The district attorney’s office signed off on criminal indictments for the four suspects.
“This week, the same suspects have once again been arrested for the capital murder of Patricia Oferoskey and Stephen Mitchelltree,” police said in the news release.
The department also said officers have worked for justice for the families of victims as the case has remained open pending new information that could lead to a conviction.
Police didn’t describe in the release whether any new leads or evidence led to the arrests.
