Man who set off Fort Worth SWAT response shot himself before police entered the house

A SWAT response in east Fort Worth on Sunday morning ended when police discovered a man inside the house had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, an Arlington police spokesman said.

Arlington’s fugitive team had served a felony warrant for possession of child pornography around 8 a.m. in the 7400 block of Arbor Park Drive in Fort Worth. They knocked and called for the man to come out multiple times before officers on the perimeter heard a single gunshot from inside the house.

Officers called for assistance from Fort Worth police, leading to the SWAT team’s presence.

The man was dead before police entered the home, said the spokesman, Lt. Christopher Cook. His identity is being withheld pending identification from the medical examiner.

No other people were inside the home at the time, Cook said.

Police cleared the area by 12:45 p.m.

Ryan Rusak contributed to this report.
