Police ask for help finding suspect, witnesses of attempted kidnapping in Fort Worth

Fort Worth police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who they say tried to kidnap a woman on Friday afternoon in Fort Worth.

At 5:17 p.m., a 29-year-old black woman was walking southbound in the 3600 block of South Jones Street near Worth Heights Elementary School, Fort Worth police said in a press release Wednesday.

A man driving a black Chrysler 200 drove up next to her, got out of the car and tried to force her inside the vehicle, police said.

The suspect is a black man estimated to be in his 20s or 30s, about 5-feet-5-inches tall and was described as “chunky” and with a squint. He was wearing a black T-shirt and tan shorts, has a short afro and may have a “grill” in his mouth.

Police are also asking to talk with two witnesses who saw the attempted kidnapping. One witness is a woman who drove a red or orange four-door sedan, and the other is a man who was driving a white four-door sedan with a sign on its roof.

Detectives said they need to speak to those drivers and anyone else who witnessed the attempted kidnapping. Anyone with information is asked to call 817-392-4437.
