An armed robbery suspect stoked panic Tuesday night at a Walmart store in Fort Worth, police said.

The shoplifting suspect drew a gun and ran out of the store at 3851 Airport Freeway when a store security employee confronted him about 6:45 p.m., police said.

The panic led customers to repeat the news of the crime to other customers, and several people ran out of the store, police said.

The robbery suspect ran from the store and was not in custody Tuesday night.

A caller initially directed police to a different Walmart at 8520 N. Beach St., “but responding officers did not locate anyone and no disturbance was reported by employees on scene” at that location, a police department spokesman said.
