Man arrested after woman found dead with apparent gunshot wound in Denton, police say
A man was arrested after a woman was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound to the head in Denton Friday evening, police said.
The victim was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as Meagan Marie Darling, 30, of Denton. Her cause of death was yet to be determined Saturday.
Xavier Patterson, 28, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to Denton City Jail. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Carrigan Lane Friday, police said, after dispatch received a 911 hang-up call around 7:35 p.m. from the location. They found a dead woman who had apparently suffered a gunshot wound, police said.
They also found a man who had suffered injuries, police said. He was transported to a hospital, where medical staff determined his injuries were non-life-threatening and he was discharged.
Detectives responded to the residence and the hospital to carry out an investigation, police said. They conducted an interview with Patterson, police said, and later charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Additional charges could be filed following the completion of the homicide investigation, police said.
