Tarrant County top prosecutor Wilson to take leave for medical procedure; length unclear

Tarrant County’s top prosecutor said Wednesday that she intends to take leave for a medical procedure.

Sharen Wilson, a former state district judge who is in her second term as Tarrant County criminal district attorney, wrote in a statement that her time away would begin Thursday.

“I have the utmost confidence in the experienced, dedicated and high-performing employees of this office to perform the legal work of Tarrant County at the same level of excellence our community has come to expect,” Wilson wrote.

The chiefs of the office’s four divisions will direct operations in Wilson’s absence.

Wilson’s spokeswoman declined to say for what period of time the district attorney expected to be away or describe the nature of the procedure.

Wilson, a Republican, was first elected in 2014.
