Woman suspected of kidnapping child from parents at Target now cooperating with police
Police in Hurst were investigating the attempted kidnapping Tuesday of a 1-year-old girl that occurred as her parents shopped at Target.
A woman took a shopping cart with the girl inside a baby carrier and walked away, Hurst police said.
Store employees were told of the missing child and began to search for her. The child was found inside the store about four minutes later.
The suspect abandoned the shopping cart and left the store before she could be found. She later contacted the police department Wednesday and was cooperating with detectives, police said.
The couple was reunited with their child, who was not injured.
A man identified as a person of interest in the crime was questioned by police and was believed to be a witness.
Police responded about 3 p.m. Tuesday to the store located at 1400 Precinct Line Road.
Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call 817-788-7146.
