Man suspected of sexual abuse of child in White Settlement arrested at Mexican border
A man accused in Tarrant County of continuous sexual abuse of a child was arrested Sunday as he tried to enter the United States in Hidalgo, authorities said.
An arrest warrant for Patricio Luevano, 77, was successfully sought by the White Settlement Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said. He is accused of committing the crime in 2016.
Luevano was arrested at the Hidalgo International Bridge and arrived from Mexico in a vehicle. CBP officers checked his fingerprints and used national law enforcement databases to confirm the warrant, the agency said.
Luevano is a lawful permanent United States resident, CBP said. He was turned over to Hidalgo police.
“Apprehensions like these, when CBP officers identify and verify travelers with an outstanding felony warrant for sexual abuse of a child, reinforce the importance of our border security mission and help keep our community safe,” Carlos Rodriguez, the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas port director, wrote in a press statement.
