Two North Texas high school students are accused of opening fire and wounding a man Thursday afternoon after a fight near Mesquite High School, Mesquite police said Friday.

After the shooting, the two suspects ran into Mesquite High School, where they were taken into custody. Only one was a student at that school, Mesquite police said.

Authorities identified the suspects as Treveon Sims Hubbard, 17, a Mesquite High School student, and Dwayne Lassai, 17. Lassai is a student at Seagoville High School, Mesquite police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and he was in stable condition.

The shooting occurred about 2 p.m. Thursday at 120 W. Main St. in Mesquite.

The suspects and a man got into a physical fight over an ongoing feud between several people, Mesquite police said. At some point, the suspects are accused of pulling out handguns and shooting at the victim.

When they arrived, Mesquite police were told by a witness two men ran away from the scene toward Mesquite High School, 300 E. Davis St.

Surveillance video showed the two suspects entering the school, and authorities locked down the school.

Several Mesquite police officers were deployed to the school to search for the suspects, who were later located and arrested without incident.

Lassai and Hubbard remained in the Mesquite Jail on Friday in lieu of $15,000 bail each, authorities said. They face charges of deadly conduct, Mesquite police said.
