Hood County jailer arrested, accused of having ‘inappropriate relationship’ with inmate

A 23-year-old jailer turned herself in to Hood County sheriff’s deputies after she was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.

Rebecca Ruth Anderson was arrested on March 22 after a warrant was issued on a charge of violating the rights of a person in custody, according to the Hood County Sheriff’s Office. Bond was set at $5,000 and Anderson was released from jail after satisfying that bond, said Lt. Johnny Rose, Hood County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

Anderson worked at the Hood County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer from March 2017 to July 2018, the sheriff’s office reported.

“I am very disappointed about this situation and expect more from my employees,” Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds said in a statement.

“I do not tolerate employees that break the law and requested the Texas Rangers investigate the allegation that was brought to my attention,” Deeds said. “As an elected official, I try to be transparent as possible and let the public know what is going on at the Hood County Sheriff’s Office.”
