Possible kidnapping investigation in Fort Worth ends with child being found safe at home

Police were conducting a large-scale search in Fort Worth Saturday, investigating a possible kidnapping case that turned out to not substantiated.

The search originally was being done as part of a possible kidnapping investigation, according to a dispatch call to Fort Worth police. At 4:45 p.m., a caller reported a possible kidnapping in Ladera Palms subdivision near Campus Drive.

At 11:33 p.m., police said there had been no kidnapping and the child reported missing was found at home safe. Officers were clearing the scene at 11:30 p.m., police said.

According to Officer Tracy Carter, a helicopter was checking the wooded area at about 5 p.m. and officers were doing a systematic search and going door-to-door in the neighborhood.
