If you get a call from this ‘police officer,’ let Fort Worth police know

Police are warning people about a scam call in Fort Worth involving jury duty after receiving several reports from residents.

According to Fort Worth police, three people have called in the past 24 hours to report a scam involving the warrants units.

Police said these people have received a phone call from someone calling themselves “Officer Watkins” or “Sergeant Watkins.” The false officer says they are calling about a warrant for missing jury duty and the person can take care of the warrant by paying off the bond amount.

The number provided shows up as Fort Worth Police Department on caller ID and appears to be the number for Fugitive and Major Case Units at the police department, which is 817-392-4430.

Police said they never call residents asking for money under any circumstances. Anyone who receives or has received this call can call 817-392-4222 to make a report.
