Arlington police investigate man found fatally shot in the street

Arlington police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found lying in the road Friday night.

According to a police press release, officers responded to reports of a man in the road in the 1700 block of Florence street at 11:41 p.m. Friday.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his mid-20s who had been shot in his lower body. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to the release.

Officers also found a bicycle near where the man was found and believe it belongs to him. According to the release, a crime scene was processed but detectives “have very little information to go on at this time.”

The man’s identity will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once his next of kin has been notified, according to police.
