A Dallas police sergeant who was arrested on Saturday and charged with felony injury to a child allegedly has hurt another child before this incident.

In an email to the Star-Telegram, the father of the children said he had reported that Jamie L. McDonald choked his son in March 2018. But during divorce hearings, the judge refused to hear the motion that would have detailed the alleged abuse, he said.

Court documents filed in Collin County during the couple’s divorce say that McDonald pinned their son to the ground, choked and slapped him.

Saturday, McDonald was arrested by the Royse City Police Department after the father picked up his children and noticed bruising on his daughter’s face, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The girl and her brother told police that McDonald was disciplining the girl over the use of an electronic device, The Associated Press reported.
