People wearing Halloween masks are breaking into pawn shops in Fort Worth, police say
Police are searching for suspects from two different pawnshop robberies in September. In both cases, the thieves were wearing Halloween masks and smashed display cases with a hammer.
On Thursday morning, police were searching for a man who robbed a pawnshop in southwest Fort Worth while wearing a skull mask on Saturday, Sept. 22.
A week earlier, on Sept. 15, two men wearing similar masks robbed the Cash America pawnshop on Oak Grove Road in south Fort Worth.
In the most recent case, a man wearing a Halloween mask broke into a pawnshop in the 6000 block of Hulen Street in southwest Fort Worth at about 3 p.m. Using a hammer, the suspect smashed open various display cases and stole the jewelry inside.
The stolen items are worth at least at $3,800, police said.
The man took off his mask before leaving the store. According to surveillance footage, he is white, 5-foot-6, about 170 pounds and is between 25 and 30 years old.
Police believe the suspect in the second robbery is the same man who was wearing a skull mask in the Cash America robbery a week earlier. They believe the second suspect stayed in the car during the Hulen Street theft.
