SWAT called to hostage situation at Las Colinas home; suspect dead
No hostages were injured during a standoff in the 300 block of San Marcos Drive in Irving, police said.
Police were originally called to the home at around 9 a.m. in regards to shots being fired. When police arrived, three people ran outside.
“The gunman was still inside as well as two victims,” Officer James McLellan said.
The department’s SWAT team was called, and two other victims were rescued unarmed, he said.
Police eventually went into the home and found the suspect, a man in his 60s, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot would, McLellan said.
“This appears to stem from some sort of domestic situation,” he said.
San Marcos is near the President George Bush Turnpike and Riverside Drive.
