Guy accused of filming girl in shower had 200,000 child porn images, document says

A Fort Worth man is being charged in federal court after investigators say he took secret videos of women and girls — dressed and undressed — with his phone.

The videos and photos included zoomed-in shots of clothed breasts and genitalia as well as a video of a girl showering in the man’s bathroom, according to a complaint filed in federal court.

William Brian Smith, 44, was arrested on a charge of receipt of a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Tarrant County court records show that Smith was originally arrested in October 2017 on a child pornography case.

The investigation began that month when Smith’s employer called police to report that suspected child pornography was found on his work computer, according to the complaint.

Officers with the Saginaw Police Department found more than 200,000 saved images and videos of child pornography between Smith’s work and personal computers, the complaint says.

Investigators also found videos taken surreptitiously of nude or topless women in adult establishments in the Fort Worth area.

“Even more video files contained surreptitious records of unknown females ranging from pre-teens to adult-aged females,” the document says.

Other recordings included women and girls in various stages of undress and included videos up skirts, in changing rooms and public restrooms, and peeping in windows, the document says.

One of the videos, taken in November 2015, depicts a girl showering. The document says that investigators were able to trace to the video to Smith’s bathroom.
