Updated Sept. 14: Matthew Emerson Reynolds, the man accused of damaging nine American flags on Sept. 10 turned himself into Denton County sheriff’s investigators on Thursday.

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who they say damaged nine American flags the day before 9/11.

All of the flags were at the courthouse on the square. The man damaged the flags just before 6:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

After releasing surveillance photos of the man on Wednesday morning, the sheriff’s department said just after 1 p.m. that they identified him as Matthew Emerson Reynolds, 29. A warrant has been issued and police are searching for him.
